Some of the works and services in your municipality have been financed with financial aid from the special plans for municipalities, in addition to contributions are destined to sanitation and environmental control, engineering and urban planning works, public lighting or social welfare, among others.
The urban waste that the town councils collect from the citizens and the non-hazardous demolition and construction waste are destined for the treatment plants concessioned by the Consell de Mallorca, where the selection is made for its reuse, recycling or energy revaluation.
From the Consell we also recover, maintain and promote popular and traditional culture and protect the historical heritage of Mallorca: dances and music, parties, gastronomy, crafts and artisan work techniques, assets of cultural and architectural interest. or paleontological, etc.
We work hard to promote the practice of sport and to spread sporting values among the children and youth of Mallorca. We have a wide range of leisure, recreational and sports activities suitable for all the public. We also work on the prevention of sports illnesses and injuries to help improve the performance of our athletes.
We also promote our island for tourism. We directly manage the tourist information offices of the port of Palma and the airport, the main arrival points for visitors, and we collaborate with the municipalities in promoting tourism through direct financial aid for the edition and publication of tourist information material and for the improvement and renovation of tourist information points.
If you want to go on an excursion through the Sierra de Tramuntana, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, we put at the disposal of the itineraries of the route of the stone in second, the network of old paths restored by the Consell de Mallorca; and the refuges, old buildings restored and rehabilitated, with all the essential comforts to accommodate walkers and hikers.
At the Consell we are concerned about road safety. We manage the roads that connect the island's population centers and we take care of maintenance, cleaning, signaling and improvement works. At the Consell de Mallorca we are concerned about the well-being of our elders. For this reason, we help finance works to improve places for the elderly and cultural, leisure, training, active aging activities, etc. that are organized.
The people most in need and the most vulnerable groups are part of our daily work. We manage residences for the elderly, centers for minors, centers for people at risk of social exclusion and care centers for people with disabilities and we collaborate with the island's municipalities in the management and financing of municipal social services.
To carry out these tasks, the Consell has a great team of professionals, who have been selected in public calls that respect the principles of equality, merit and ability, and who are continuously trained to offer the best service to citizens.
The buildings where our professionals work are an important part of the historical heritage of Mallorca and the Consell is in charge of conserving, restoring them and making them accessible to the entire population.
