The ultimate goal of the initiative is to achieve the publication of as much data as possible, using structured formats, preferably non-proprietary and automatically processable.
The better structured and enriched the data, the easier it will be to reuse it and to build applications for automated processing. The use of open standard formats will allow data to be processed with various types of tools without having to acquire user licenses.
Among the most common open formats that are distributed through this initiative are :
- PNG
- JPG
- GIF
- TXT
- HTML
- HTM
