The Consell Insular de Mallorca is the governing institution of the island of Mallorca. It was created in 1978 with the approval of the pre-autonomous Balearic regime and was officially instituted in 1983 with the approval of the Statute of Autonomy of the Balearic Islands.

The Plenary of the Island Council of Mallorca is made up of 33 councilors and councilors elected from the different political parties that obtained representation in the last elections: Partit Socialista de les Illes Baleares (10), Partido Popular (7), Més per Mallorca (4) , Citizens-Citizenship Party (3), United We Can (3), El Pi - Proposta per les Illes Balears (3) and Vox-Baleares (3). The President is Catalina Cladera Crespí since July 6, 2019. The periodicity of the sessions is monthly and they are held on the second Thursday of each month, at 9.30 a.m.

The main headquarters are in the Royal Palace building, which had previously been the headquarters of the Balearic Provincial Council.

The Consell de Mallorca is a local and autonomous administration close to the citizens, which is attributed, among others, the powers of: legal cooperation and economic and technical assistance to municipalities, especially those with less economic and management; urban planning and habitability; spatial planning; historical and cultural monumental heritage; development of artisan companies; classified activities (public performances and recreational activities); river hunting and fishing; sports, leisure and tourism promotion; social services and care for dependent or socially excluded people; environment and waste management.
