It allows the dissemination, reuse or adaptation of the data without any restriction.

Full

  • The PDDL puts the data in the public domain (waiving all rights)
  • Human readable summary
  • Full legal text of the current version (v1.0)

NB: When using the PDDL you may want to associate a set of complementary community standards.

How to apply

Prominently insert in all relevant places a statement such as:

These { DATA ( BASE)} are available under the Public Domain License and Dedication v1.0, the full text of which can be found at: http://opendatacommons.org/licenses/pddl/1.0/

Other ways to apply the license

You can replace the link with a full copy of the license online or a link to a local copy of the license, either on your website or in a file distributed along with the database (for example, a LICENSE.txt)
From a strictly legal point of view, these options, that is, the copy of the PDDL text and the release with the database, either as part of the database or as a file released together with the database , are preferable.
Why? Dedicating your work to the public domain is very important, especially compared to simply granting licenses: It means that you completely relinquish your rights to the work. This may be a new area of law in many jurisdictions, so it is clearer that you dedicate your work if you perform some type of act, other than simply linking to the text, that shows that you read the text of the PDDL and understood that by using it you dedicate your work to the public domain.
